About Richard Seekins

I am a professional photographer and artist, born in Yorkshire. My first introduction to art was at a very early age. My Mother worked as a life model at Batley College of Art and often took me along and I would sit with my own paper and paints.

Throughout school art was always my favourite subject and one of the few I excelled in but on leaving school my interest moved to photography. This became my main hobby for many years and in 1999 I did a City & Guilds in Photography at Dewsbury College passing with distinction. This led to a career in photography doing weddings, model and catalogue shoots.

I paint in all various media including oil, watercolour and acrylics, sometimes mixing the different media, depending on the subject I am painting and enjoy the challenges and effects that the different mediums provide.

Both photography and art are my passions and each compliments the other, both using my exceptional eye for detail, colours, contrast and composition.

I have always preferred to focus on people and nature and feel I have a rare ability to capture a likeness which has led to me doing commissioned portraits.
